Mazda3 2005 – How to test if wheel bearings are damaged?

1. Front tires are cupping.
2. Road noise present at lower speeds (whoop-whoop sound)
3. At 50mph, there is a constant more repetitive noise.
4. 60+mph, there is noise but limited.
5. One rim is bent, but it is in the back.
6. Car does not seem out of alignment, at 60+mph, the car stays straight several seconds.

tire cupping produces the noise you are describing. a bearing noise can be verified by getting the car to the speed where you hear the bearing noise and rock the steering side to side causing the weight of the car to shift from side to side, if it’s a bearing the noise will come and go.
most likely unless you have hit a curb or had an accident that impacted a wheel heavily, the tires are your problem. tire cupping is generally caused by not rotating your tires often enough and possibly a slight misalignment condition.
