Are there less males than females overall or do they have more or less equal numbers?
What I notice (in my limited experience) that there seems to be less males around than females. This seems to be the case at all age groups. For example in my school I see more girls on campus than boys. I have four living grandparents so sometimes can observe senior citizens. Its the same there. Are there an equal number of boy babies born to girl babies? Maybe I am just imagining it (hope I spelled that right). I also read a news article once that said the male Y chromosone is dying out and someday there will be no more boys born. I hope that’s not too soon because I kind of like boys lol lol. Oh once I asked a question about that and was told that it wont happen for 100,000 years or more but what happens if its speeded up like all the junk food that males like might speed their demise (just kidding) If its true what can be done to even the numbers?
I do remember from anthropology that there are fewer males overall. They have more birth defects, more accidents, take more risks, and die sooner from diseases. They have fewer genes on that Y chromosome, so they have less “back-up” genes to help them survive. And I also heard that about the Y chromosome on a TV documentary: it’s become smaller over many generations and will eventually disappear. Or, at least, that’s the theory. Um, not that much of a loss, actually… Who needs hunters and warriors anymore?
