Do you think it’s safe to compete in agility with a pregnant dog? Has anyone done it before?

I have a Sheltie that is due on or around October 11th. There is an agility trial on September 27th that I would like to do with her. It’s an event where speed isn’t very important and she only has to jump 8 inches. She’s been very active so far throughout her pregnancy and she runs more in the yard then she would for this event. I don’t want to harm the pups though. Everything I’ve read has said to keep your dog active throughout her pregnancy but to not let her jump the last couple of weeks. She would be due basically around two weeks after the event. Thank you for any kind advice. Also, YES she is a champion and YES, I have a mentor but she doesn’t do agility. She is three years old and in excellent condition. She runs probably at least 2 miles a day.

I would not compete with this dog this close to the whelping. Running should be minimal by that time. If she will not slow herself down, it is your responsibility to keep her form over-exerting herself. Yes, she should get exercise, but it should be limited to good daily walks by week 7.
